Nur is a poetic lamp that sings an ode to light ...

The “Nur” lamp is the fruit of a hitherto unknown collaboration between Nicolas Aubagnac and the calligraphy artist Soraya Syed, whose workshop is situated in London. Following Nicolas Aubagnac’s request, Soraya Syed designed an original work of calligraphy based on the word “Light”, in Arabic “Nur”, using a style referred to as “coufique”. As this font is based on straight lines it was often used by architects to embellish the sculptured facades of great monuments. On the Nur lamp, the calligraphic form of the word “Light” turns into a motif of marquetry of white ebony and dark walnut that delicately adorns the three curved sides of the object.
