photographic cabinet

It all started with a series of photos I had taken in Sicily: shadows of rosemary bushes.

The sun was so intense that the shadows looked as if they were drawn in ink directly onto the ground of my terrace…

I captured this personal and fleeting emotion in the instant of a snapshot.

Then, with this harvest of images, I imagined a "herb-furniture" adorned with a plant mosaic.

The silhouette is consciously inspired by Renaissance ebony cabinets, but in a refined interpretation reduced to its geometric essence.

Thanks to a novel controlled oxidation process, the photographic fragments were literally revealed on parchment panels coated with oxidized and varnished silver leaves.

The great tradition of cabinetmaking coupled with this innovative image sublimation process gives birth to a rare piece of furniture celebrating the poetry of the moment and the intelligence of the hand.

the king of the woods

Ebony is the "king of woods"...
It is a rare and precious wood whose naturally dark color is highly sought after because it could be mistaken for metal.

Indeed, solid ebony is the densest wood that exists; it is also called "ironwood" because a piece of ebony submerged in water sinks!

It is so hard that it can be worked like steel.

It only needs polishing to make it shine; no varnish is necessary.

This is why it is used to make musical instruments: clarinets, oboes, flutes…
