Total luxury
Enjoy in moderation!
The epitome of luxury is captured in this exquisite lacquered cabinet, transformed into a cocktail bar. A prestigious commission for which I revisited my SATURNE cabinet, originally created in 2011.
The sides of the cabinet are adorned with a constellation of planets made of white gold leaf. These planets, with their soft silvery reflections, seem to literally dance on a cloudy lacquered sky, the colors of which were inspired by a very old Japanese kimono box.
The cabinet opens onto a walnut interior whose warm, amber color evokes that of the decanted liqueurs it contains.
Luxury is outside, luxury is inside.
All that's missing are the guests to enjoy a vintage cognac!

A tradition that endures
Lacquer objects date back to the Neolithic period in China.
This technique was already reserved for high-end luxury items. Then Japan became a benchmark in this field.
In the West, lacquer was not practiced until the 17th century. Lacquer objects were prized by the elite: in the 18th century, Queen Marie Antoinette collected them.
It was designers from the 1930s, such as Eileen Gray or Jean Dunand, who seized upon the traditional technique of Japanese lacquer and combined it with the creation of their furniture.
Our Saturne cabinet perpetuates a tradition that is almost 3000 years old…
