The Troubadour bedside table is my first piece of furniture…
His drawing dates from 1997! It hasn't aged a day.
To create it, I was inspired by the "curule" chair.
The curule chair (in Latin sella curulis) comes to us from ancient Rome.
It is a symbol of power because only Roman emperors and magistrates could sit on it.
This arc-shaped form persisted into the Middle Ages, and each era enjoyed reinventing it in its own style.
Here is my version, completely refined, using wrought iron to give the base the lightness of a graceful ribbon.

All our forged steel creations are hand-patinated.
This is called a “forge black” patina because it uses an ancient technique that involves fixing the calamine that forms on the surface of the metal under the combined action of high temperatures and hammering on an anvil.
A job that requires strength and precision…
