inspired by a work of art

geometric sculpture

Inspired by one of the most famous engravings by the artist Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528): Melencolia. This esoteric engraving has been the subject of multiple interpretations, but its meaning remains a mystery.

Beside an angel lost in thought is a block of stone carved with unusual shapes. This geometric form is not referenced in any mathematical textbook. We needed the advice of a geometry specialist before we could model it in three dimensions.

Made of white lacquered steel, the Dürer lamp is a true abstract sculpture.
Lacquered in black, it looks like a block of obsidian cut like a precious stone.

Each lamp is signed with a hand-drawn stamp under the base.
