sober and precious elegance
like silk…
With its three delicately curved sides, the Etoile lamp resembles an open book.
On each of its pages, a straw marquetry fan unfolds, giving off reflections reminiscent of a luxurious fabric.
To achieve this effect, the natural colors of the straw are cleverly combined in a rich range of gradients.
This is the art of the marquetry cabinetmaker: carefully selecting each strand of straw according to its color in order to create a harmonious and dynamic chromatic juxtaposition for the eye.
The effect is guaranteed: the light seems to “circulate” through the fan…
top and base: natural oak

a gift from Nature
To create straw marquetry, our workshops use rye straw grown in France.
Each rye stalk is dried and then dipped into a dye bath. Each stalk must then be split to expose the inner side and flattened to form ribbons.
These are the ribbons that will be patiently cut, assembled and glued to obtain the desired pattern.
So what you see is the inside of the straw which is naturally shiny because it is coated with silica.
It is the plant that produces silica to seal the inside of its stem and allow the sap to circulate within it.
Thanks to Mother Nature for this gift that offers us endless decorating possibilities!
