a crazy bet
Bronze in all its majesty
Before it was a sculpture, before it was a piece of furniture, it was a beautiful story, a crazy gamble…
We are in the mountains, in a contemporary chalet: the owner asks me to design a coffee table that will be the focal point of his living room… I look at the snow-capped peaks through the windows, and the idea comes to me to represent the Alps in three dimensions as if I were seeing them from a cloud, a memory of my childhood fascination with maps…

An art object that draws upon a chain of exceptional skills.
It took a year of studies and prototypes to give birth to this unique piece, which came out of the workshops of the Macheret Art Foundry.
The exceptional technology and expertise of its craftsmen made it possible to translate all the poetry of the project.
A whole chain of expertise was put into action to solve the technical problems without ever altering the aesthetics desired by Nicolas Aubagnac.
Numerous samples were made to find a particular texture for bronze that would allow for the representation of mountain areas, plains areas and sea areas.
In a 300-kilogram block of bronze emerge the reliefs of Mont Blanc, the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, and the Italian plains.
Like an art object in a display case, the sculptural coffee table, delicately hand-patinated, is sheltered under a glass portico.
The Megève valley where the chalet is located is marked by a golden pin planted at the foot of Mont Blanc…
No other indication of location, only the undulating movement of the natural landscape, like fabric lifted by the wind…
