A concentration of expertise

The Atlas side table showcases two traditional decorative arts techniques: gold leaf decoration on steel, and gold leaf decoration under lacquer. The planet motif is created with gold leaf applied to a black lacquer background, then covered with several layers of lacquer patiently applied and sanded for hours until the incomparable brilliance and depth are achieved—the hallmark of fine lacquer in the eyes of discerning collectors.

eternal gold…

To decorate the base of the Atlas pedestal table, the gilder applies 24-karat gold leaf, 0.000125 millimeters thick, to the metal… This is how architectural elements on monuments and castle gates are gilded. The gilder uses a sable brush to pick up each gold leaf without tearing it. It is a work of patience and precision. But since gold is incorruptible, the finished piece will retain its brilliance forever.
