COLLECTIBLE ITEM

created to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the art bronze manufacturer Delisle

This spectacular cabinet pays homage to the cabinets of curiosities of the 18th century and is inspired by a gallery of portraits of ancestors who would stare at each other in a corridor of an imaginary castle…

The masks of nymphs, fauns, and demigods come from Louis XIV and Louis XV furniture designs unearthed by Nicolas Aubagnac in the historical archives of the Delisle company. Their gazes meet mischievously, and some smile enigmatically.

A classic version combines gilded bronze with Indian rosewood, while a contemporary version pairs patinated bronze with French walnut. Black lacquer enhances these luxurious materials and underscores the timeless proportions of this collector's item. A secret lock concealed within the central panel allows the cabinet doors to be partially opened, revealing the interior, inhabited by a final "ancestor"!

This cabinet was produced by the Delisle company in an edition of 8 copies + 4 artist's copies. It is signed with a double hot-stamped mark "Nicolas Aubagnac-Delisle".

Continuing the bronze tradition

The Delisle company is a family business of art bronzers that was founded in 1895, in the heart of the Marais district in Paris.

Today, Jean Delisle embodies the fifth generation of this "Living Heritage Company", a member of the Colbert Committee.

The Delisle company has illustrated all the major trends in Decorative Arts and Nicolas Aubagnac entered its collections in 2003.

At the same time, the Delisle company is helping to restore the splendor of French heritage treasures: Versailles, the Place de la Concorde, the Palais Royal…

With his various collections for the Delisle company, Nicolas Aubagnac continues this uninterrupted dialogue between the tradition of bronze and light…
