Like a temple
timeless minimalism
The Segeste console was inspired by the famous Greek temple of Segesta, in Sicily.
This temple, with its strong and pure architecture, is punctuated by a colonnade whose modernity is surprising.
It is the minimalism of this colonnade that I wanted to recapture by turning these balusters in blackened solid oak.
The shape of the furniture is perfectly timeless: "nothing in excess!" as the Greeks already said…

Strength and longevity
The Ségeste console showcases traditional carpentry skills as it is made of solid oak.
I gladly use oak wood because it is a wood that we can source in Europe, but also because it is a tree rich in symbolism.
In Celtic times, oak trees were considered sacred, and druids used them as natural temples to celebrate their ceremonies and rituals.
In contact with the earth through its roots (as deep as the tree is tall…), but also with the sky, the oak was an intermediary between the druids and the gods.
It's important to know that an oak tree can live up to 500, or even 1000 years, and that it can grow up to 50 meters tall!
